Moving to Overseas | Art Training | To Europe, The Netherlands<\/h3>\n

To Everyone. A Message from Kota.<\/h1>\n

Hello, this is Kota, the Oneness Artist.<\/p>\n

I am always grateful for your support.<\/p>\n

Thank you so much for your continuous encouragement.<\/p>\n

It has been about three years since I made my exhibition debut at the Gallery Kanon in Ginza in September 2020. Since then, I have been actively pursuing my art career both domestically and internationally, based in Tokyo.<\/p>\n

All of this has been possible thanks to your unwavering support. I sincerely thank you.<\/p>\n

Now, I have an important announcement to make.<\/p>\n

I will be embarking on a new and significant challenge.<\/p>\n

From May 2024 onward, I will temporarily leave Japan and move my base overseas to pursue my art journey.<\/p>\n

Although it saddens me to say goodbye to everyone in Japan, I would be delighted if you could support me in this new challenge.<\/p>\n

The country I am planning to move to is the Netherlands.<\/p>\n

Although a small country, the Netherlands has produced many great masters like Van Gogh, Rembrandt, and Vermeer, and continues to foster a vibrant contemporary art scene.<\/p>\n

Not only in art, but in business, politics, and many other areas, the Netherlands is a unique country that drives the world forward with innovative and rational ideas.<\/p>\n

I previously traveled to the Netherlands<\/a> and felt a deep connection to it.<\/p>\n

And then, Europe.<\/p>\n

The birthplace of art, and a place that still holds strong cultural ties to art.<\/p>\n

I believe that living and creating art there will allow me to grow both as an artist and as a person, on a much larger and deeper scale.<\/p>\n

Though I don\u2019t know what will happen once I get there, I intend to do everything I can and live life fully.<\/p>\n

I want to ride this wave of opportunity.<\/p>\n

That is how I feel right now.<\/p>\n

I may return to Japan in a few months, or it could be several years. I would be so happy if we could meet again with smiles when that time comes.<\/p>\n

This is a brief update for now.<\/p>\n

Background of moving abroad as an artist<\/h3>\n
\n\t

 <\/p>\n

The background of this decision comes from a mysterious \"guidance\" that I feel, arising from the convergence of several events happening at once.<\/p>\n

The end of the pandemic, global circumstances, and the state of the art market in Japan and around the world are all factors involved, but mainly it is tied to a few significant personal life changes.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In the past few years, there have been rapid and significant changes.<\/p>\n

I have experienced some very painful and difficult times.<\/p>\n

Like any human, I have cried in sorrow and been consumed by anger.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Even now, I think some of the wounds in my heart have not fully healed.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

However, when I look at all these events from a broader perspective...<\/p>\n

I feel that everything is happening at the perfect timing, and that one day, I will look back and feel that this was for the best.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This sense of foretelling comes from my long solo travel experience<\/a>.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And when I connect all the dots of these events, I have decided to let go of everything in Japan\u2014my job, home, and studio\u2014and make the decision to leave at this moment.<\/p>\n

It feels like the right time to embark on this journey.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Honestly, I have strong anxiety and fear about moving forward as an Asian artist in the heart of the Western world.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In a foreign land with different culture and language, I wonder what I can possibly do as a person.<\/p>\n

I even question whether I can manage to succeed.<\/p>\n

And when I start thinking about it, I almost feel like I don\u2019t want to go at all.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

But then, a calm voice inside me says:<\/p>\n

You can never know until you try.<\/p>\n

You won\u2019t know unless you go.<\/p>\n

In life, it\u2019s better not to regret not trying.<\/p>\n

If I don\u2019t go now, I\u2019m sure I\u2019ll never go.<\/p>\n

Is that really okay?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Even if this challenge ends in failure, it is not really a failure; it\u2019s just one more life experience added.<\/p>\n

And seeing this challenge, failures included, will allow someone else to learn something from it.<\/p>\n

I believe there\u2019s something they can gain from it too.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Of course, leaving Japan is lonely.<\/p>\n

I love Japan deeply.<\/p>\n

The culture, the food, the safety, the nature, and the technology\u2014all of it is beautiful.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I am incredibly proud to have been born and raised in this country.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And most importantly, I love the people of Japan.<\/p>\n

No, I actually love them.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This country is my precious \"home\" and the place I always want to live.<\/p>\n

I aim to grow to the point where I can give back, even a little, to this amazing country.<\/p>\n

Also, if I find a way to thrive in the art world there, I hope to become a bridge for Japanese art and artists.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Finally, before I leave, I would like to announce my last domestic solo exhibition and event.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The exhibition will be held from April 12th to 15th in Ota-ku, Tokyo.<\/p>\n

I will be leaving Japan and relocating overseas for a while after May 2024.
