At Tsukiji Honganji,<\/p>\n

I came across Kota's solo exhibition<\/a>,<\/p>\n

which led me to ask him to create a painting for me.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Earlier this year in February, my daughter passed away,<\/p>\n

and I had come to Tsukiji Honganji intending to do<\/p>\n

sutra copying in her memory. However, due to my mistake,<\/p>\n

I couldn't proceed with it, and instead, I encountered Kota.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As I was admiring the artworks,<\/p>\n

Kota approached me and explained his work.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

His paintings conveyed something profound\u2014<\/p>\n

a sense of being both deeply moving and soothing.<\/p>\n

I was drawn in, wanting to keep looking at them.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I had been thinking about commissioning a painting<\/p>\n

of my late daughter and father for a long time.<\/p>\n

Since I couldn't create it myself, I had been searching online<\/p>\n

for someone who could paint portraits.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Although Kota's style was different from what<\/p>\n

I had envisioned, while talking to him,<\/p>\n

my thoughts drifted to my daughter.<\/p>\n

I asked if he could create such a painting,<\/p>\n

and after a moment of thought, he kindly said,<\/p>\n

\"Yes, I can do that.\"<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

There was something about Kota's<\/p>\n

background<\/a> and the impression he left on me<\/p>\n

that made him feel less like a stranger.<\/p>\n

I strongly felt that I wanted him to create this work,<\/p>\n

so I made the request.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

When I saw the finished painting,<\/p>\n

I felt a warm and immense sense of comfort<\/p>\n

that enveloped me completely.<\/p>\n

It was so fulfilling that tears welled up in my eyes,<\/p>\n

and I was overcome with gratitude.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The painting is very beautiful, with warm colors,<\/p>\n

expressed in gentle hues that change depending on the angle from which it is viewed.<\/p>\n

My family was amazed, saying it looks exactly like my grandfather,<\/p>\n

\u201cIt's just him!!\u201d<\/p>\n

My daughter said it looks like when she was a little younger,<\/p>\n

so it\u2019s a bit different from her current image, but she still sees some resemblance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

At first, I imagined the sky, but<\/p>\n

depending on the perspective, it can also look like the sea. A mysterious painting.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Since my daughter loves the sky and clouds, I had them draw two people in the sky,<\/p>\n

hoping that her grandfather, who passed away, would guide her,<\/p>\n

but Kota-san also added a dragon to the painting.<\/p>\n

It is a deeply moving and cherished painting.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Since the painting came into our home, some old memories have resurfaced,<\/p>\n

and they are from the difficult times of raising my children.<\/p>\n

There were such intense emotional swings that I couldn\u2019t contain them.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I felt like I was going to lose my mind at home, so I went outside, cried my heart out, and once I calmed down,<\/p>\n

I returned home, but it was an emotional explosion that even surprised me.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

But since then, nothing like that has happened,<\/p>\n

though the sadness hasn't disappeared,<\/p>\n

I live in peace.<\/p>\n

I wonder what that was all about...<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t know how artists create their work,<\/p>\n

but despite my impolite request to have something drawn according to my image,<\/p>\n

Kota listened carefully and truly captured my feelings to create it.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And Kota\u2019s painting, along with the words<\/a> written there,<\/p>\n

evoked such an emotional response that it felt like my soul was shaking.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m truly grateful to have had Kota paint this for me.<\/p>\n

As I wish for the happiness of my daughter and father,<\/p>\n

the painting makes me feel that they are also wishing for our happiness,<\/p>\n

and with this, I want to move forward.<\/p>\n
