Three pieces of art on display in Amsterdam<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

From June 8 to June 15, 2023,<\/p>\n

I had the opportunity to exhibit my art<\/p>\n

in Amsterdam, Netherlands.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The exhibition took place at WIHH Gallery,<\/p>\n

featuring three of my paintings.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Located in the heart of Amsterdam,<\/p>\n

this gallery is an enormous art space.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a vibrant and inspiring venue,<\/p>\n

overflowing with highly diverse and<\/p>\n

incredibly free-spirited works<\/p>\n

from artists across various genres.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As is often the case overseas,<\/p>\n

some visitors expressed their feelings directly,<\/p>\n

exclaiming phrases like \u201cBeautiful!\u201d or \u201cI love it!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Differences in artistry felt in different countries<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

Through this experience,<\/p>\n

I was able to clearly feel the differences<\/p>\n

in artistic sensibilities between Japan and the Netherlands.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

(This is, of course, based on my personal perspective.)<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In Japan, there is a strong tendency<\/p>\n

to focus on technique.<\/p>\n

This applies not only to artworks themselves<\/p>\n

but also to art universities (education)<\/p>\n

and competitions, where technical skill<\/p>\n

is often prioritized.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As a result, the works are visually beautiful at first glance.<\/p>\n

There are many pieces that are created with high-level techniques,<\/p>\n

producing aesthetically pleasing results.<\/p>\n

You can\u2019t help but feel the influence<\/p>\n

of Japan\u2019s tradition of craftsmanship and manufacturing.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

However, on the other hand,<\/p>\n

many works seem to lack<\/p>\n

or have a very thin narrative background.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Additionally, due to the size of homes,<\/p>\n

smaller-sized works are more common<\/p>\n

and preferred in Japan.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In contrast, in the Netherlands,<\/p>\n

I noticed a strong emphasis on<\/p>\n

the story behind the artwork.<\/p>\n

It felt as though the narrative is central,<\/p>\n

and the painting itself serves as a ticket<\/p>\n

to guide you into that story.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s how I perceived it.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

However, in terms of technique or initial visual impact,<\/p>\n

many works seemed bold, with a kind of freedom<\/p>\n

that could be likened to a child\u2019s doodle\u2014<\/p>\n

good or bad, you might find yourself thinking,<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat is this?\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Additionally, due to the larger size of homes,<\/p>\n

bigger-sized works are more common<\/p>\n

and preferred in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

*Of course, this is just a general tendency<\/p>\n

and doesn\u2019t apply to everything.<\/p>\n

In fact, among Japan\u2019s younger contemporary artists,<\/p>\n

I feel there is a gradual shift<\/p>\n

toward a more Dutch-like artistic sensibility.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Artistic sensibilities naturally differ<\/p>\n

depending on the country and culture.<\/p>\n

While I understood this intellectually,<\/p>\n

actually seeing and feeling it firsthand<\/p>\n

left a significant impact on me.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Which art is better?<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

When it comes to comparing Japanese art and Dutch art,<\/p>\n

which is better?<\/p>\n

I believe it\u2019s perfectly fine for each individual<\/p>\n

to decide for themselves\u2014or not to decide at all.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What matters most is your own personal sensibility.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Whether it\u2019s about technique, concepts, or storytelling\u2014<\/p>\n

those elements can be present or absent,<\/p>\n

but the work that honestly feels likeable to you<\/p>\n

is the best piece of art for you,<\/p>\n

in my opinion.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

That said, in the context of the contemporary art world,<\/p>\n

it\u2019s an undeniable fact that the art style leading<\/p>\n

the global scene is more aligned<\/p>\n

with the Dutch approach to art.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

As an artist, Kota<\/h3>\n

As an artist named Kota,<\/p>\n

what I value most in creating my works is:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Of course, the visual beauty.<\/p>\n

But more importantly, the ability to lead people<\/p>\n

into a deep story and world.<\/p>\n

The works should possess both external “beauty”<\/p>\n

and internal “beauty,” combining the strengths of both.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As time stretches across hundreds and thousands of years into the future,<\/p>\n

I am convinced that the only works that will endure<\/p>\n

are those that possess true beauty and authenticity.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Moreover, I believe that my works should<\/p>\n

heal and energize those who view them.<\/p>\n

I see them as things that gently and consistently provide strength<\/p>\n

in a person’s life.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Creating such authenticity in this world<\/p>\n

is, as the Oneness Artist Kota, my role and purpose.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Furthermore, in order to take flight into the top tier of the world,<\/p>\n

I am currently preparing to upgrade my approach by one or two steps!<\/p>\n
