Digital + Street + Art in Bangkok | Where The Light Is | Kota | Oneness Artist
【Digital + Street + Art 】
In late September, in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand,
I carried out my new art project
that fuses digital and street art,
titled "Where The Light Is."
(= The Place Where Light Exists)
(September 17, 2022)
A giant glowing painting was suddenly projected onto the streets at night.
Both locals and foreign tourists stopped to admire it.
Since it was merely a projection,
there was no need to paint directly on buildings
or leave semi-permanent marks, unlike traditional street art.
However,
I am certain that an artistic
“something” will remain
in the minds and hearts of those who saw the work,
perhaps semi-permanently.
The event took place near the famous “Khaosan Road” in Bangkok.
Khaosan Road was once known as a backpacker’s paradise,
a gathering spot for budget accommodations and travelers.
Nowadays, it has transformed into a vibrant nightlife destination,
lined with bars and clubs blasting loud music all night long,
attracting massive crowds every day.
Initially, the project was planned to be held on Khaosan Road.
However, the road was brightly lit like daytime even at night,
crowded with people, filled with countless shops,
and overwhelmed by music so loud that it made clothing and lungs vibrate.
As a result, the event was quickly relocated to
a nearby street just off Khaosan Road.
Illuminating the darkness with the light of art
Light shines because there is darkness
What did people feel
when they suddenly saw a large glowing painting appear at night?
Thank you, Bangkok!
After that,
I traveled further north in Thailand and brought the
Where The Light Is project to a town called Pai.
There, I received a very mystical message.
Please check it out as well.
