Explanation | U+Me

"Now, the wind is blowing. Let's ride on this wind. Let's embrace all—sadness, fear, loneliness, joy, hope, and happiness. Let's embrace everything. Let's move forward. Let's continue this journey. It's all going to be okay. Surely, it's going to be okay. In the end, it's going to be okay. I am grateful to myself. I love this life. Thank you always."

This is the content of a letter I wrote to myself. And this work is the final piece created in my self-made atelier Atelier U+Me.

This piece was born from a series of major life changes that occurred in quick succession over a short period of time.

Two years before creating this work, my mother suddenly passed away from illness. Strangely, around the same time, my artworks began to sell rapidly, and I got married. Soon after, a chain of changes followed: I had to leave the house I was born and raised in, the apartment I had lived in for many years, and even the studio I had built myself—the entire building that contained them was slated for demolition. To top it off, my beloved motorcycle, which I had used for years, was stolen. Triggered by these changes, I made the decision to move my base overseas. This piece holds a strong message of encouragement to myself at that time, whispering, “You’re going to be okay.”

Each of us walks through life in search of our own light. But perhaps the light is not something waiting at the end of the path. Perhaps the act of walking itself is the light. Each step, each journey, carries its own unique glow. Different, yet all beautiful. Simply by existing, simply by walking, you are already a precious part of the cosmos.

Of course, there will be pain, sorrow, and hardship along the way. We may fall. We may pause. And in those moments, the weight may feel unbearable. But from the perspective of the cosmos, even those struggles become part of your irreplaceable path—your own beautiful light.

So it’s okay. It has been okay. And it will continue to be okay. No matter what happens, no matter what anyone says. You are wonderful. You are beautiful. You are the light of the cosmos itself. You are a treasure.

Thank you, truly,
for being here in this world.
