U+Me | Story
"Now, the wind is blowing. Let's ride on this wind. Let's embrace all—sadness, fear, loneliness, joy, hope, and happiness. Let's embrace everything. Let's move forward. Let's continue this journey. It's all going to be okay. Surely, it's going to be okay. In the end, it's going to be okay. I am grateful to myself. I love this life. Thank you always."
This is the content of a letter I wrote to myself.
And this work is the final piece created in my self-made atelier Atelier U+Me.
Two years before creating this work, my mother passed away due to illness.
At the same time, I got married.
Also, for some reason, as if in a chain reaction, the house where I was born and raised, the house where I had lived for many years, and my self-made atelier, all of them, the entire building, was to be vacated.
Furthermore, my long-used motorcycle was stolen.
These multiple major changes in my life became the catalyst for my decision to relocate overseas and take on this challenge.
In this work, there is a strong sense of encouragement to myself, saying "It’s going to be okay."
In life, each person is surely walking towards their own light.
But the light is not at the destination we aim for, I truly believe that “walking itself” is the light itself.
Each person's journey is their own unique light, and they are all different and beautiful.
Therefore, simply by existing, just by walking, I think it is something to be grateful for in this universe.
Of course, along the way, there will be times of pain, suffering, and sadness.
You might fall or stop in your tracks.
During those moments, it will be incredibly hard.
But, from a cosmic perspective, that too will become your own journey,
and your own beautiful light.
So, it’s okay.
