Graining of the Cosmos
— Guided by Woods, Lit from Within —

The formation of wood grain is woven with countless grand stories beyond human understanding— the ebb and flow of tides, the turning of seasons, the rotation of the Earth, and the resonance with the stars.
When I realized this, I came to see wood grain as the rhythm of the cosmos made visible. Believing in this cosmic rhythm of the wood grain, I entrusted myself to it, allowing it to guide me as I painted. The works that emerged in this way seem to quietly embody the cosmos itself— perfect, abundant with love.

These paintings are created with special pigments, and gently glow in the darkness. Light and darkness, though opposites, rest side by side, revealing a different face at night. We may wish to avoid darkness. But it is precisely because of darkness that light shines. Through it, we can learn love more deeply. Such meaning is embedded in these works.

In this exhibition, twelve new pieces are on display. Hidden within them are two large works—each formed by six connected paintings. When we realize that what seemed separate was actually one, we may also rediscover something else important—something we may have forgotten.

If, when standing before the works, you feel something tremble within you, surely that is the rhythm of the cosmos flowing within you— your inner light.
I hope you will always treasure that resonance, that glow.

Everything is connected.
Everything is perfect.
Everything is one.

Explanation:

This artwork, created using Kota’s unique painting technique, Cosmic Rhythm. This approach respects the natural patterns of wood—designs born from the vast forces of nature, Earth, and the cosmos itself. The grain of the wood is seen as a visible manifestation of the cosmic rhythm—weather, gravity, seasons, planetary rotation and so on.
By painting in harmony with the cosmic rhythm, I, as a human being, express Oneness—the idea that all is interconnected. This concept is influenced by the teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha (6th–4th century BCE), who spoke of “Dependent Origination”—the principle that all things exist in interrelation.

About the exhibition:
All existence is one. This fundamental truth of cosmic oneness forms the heart of my creative expression. My work is inspired by the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha(circa 5th-6th century BC), who illuminated the principle of Dependent Arising —”the idea that all things arise and exist in connection with one another.” This teaching of interdependence reflects the profound unity of life, a concept I strive to convey in my art through my dialogue with wood, a material shaped by time and nature’s rhythms.

Through this exhibition, I hope you will rediscover the extraordinary in the ordinary—the natural beauty that surrounds us yet often goes unnoticed. By attuning to the rhythm of the wood grain and the universal truth of interconnectedness it mirrors, we enrich our understanding of nature, humanity, and the Earth.

May this exploration inspire a deeper appreciation of the harmony that exists within and around us, fostering a sense of connection that contributes to peace, unity, and compassion in our shared world.

“If the bees disappeared, humanity would perish within four years.”

by ???

“If the bees disappeared, humanity would perish within four years.”
This statement is often attributed to the renowned theoretical physicist Albert Einstein. While there is no concrete evidence that he actually said it, the message carries a compelling truth.

Bees, as primary agents of pollination for plants, play a crucial role in sustaining crops like vegetables, fruits, nuts, spices, and even raw materials for clothing. Without them, most of these plants would disappear. A decline in plants would lead to a decrease in herbivores, which in turn would impact carnivores, resulting in a cascading effect that could threaten the survival of not only humanity but also many other forms of life on Earth. In this sense, bees can be seen as vital contributors to the cycle of life on our planet.

From a cosmic perspective, bees are part of the larger cycle of Earth’s ecosystems. They assist in the interconnected flow of life energy across various species, ensuring the continuity of life. If this cycle were to halt, it might even have implications for the universe at large.

Currently, bees are listed as endangered species due to factors such as pesticides, warfare, and environmental destruction. Whether they are driven to extinction or preserved depends entirely on human actions.

by ???
